Q2 2020 Committed Occupancy Increases Over 5%

NEW YORK – October 2, 2019 – TravelClick, an Amadeus company, today released new data from the Company’s September North American Hospitality Review (NAHR). According to the data, for the next 12 months (September 2019 – August 2020), transient bookings are up 0.2% year-over-year, and average daily rate (ADR) for this segment is up 0.6% based on reservations currently on the books. When broken down further, the transient leisure (discount, qualified and wholesale) segment is up 1.4% in bookings, and ADR is up 0.2%.

Additionally, the transient business (negotiated and retail) segment is down -0.4% in bookings, but up 0.6% in ADR. Lastly, group bookings are up 2.3% in committed room nights* over the same time last year, and ADR for this segment is also up 2.2%. Group bookings for the second quarter of 2020 increased by 5.5%.

“Booking pace throughout the third quarter of 2019 shows signs of stability, especially in light of the inconsistency experienced throughout North America earlier this year,” said John Hach, senior industry analyst, TravelClick. “The latest results now indicate an underlying strength in advance group booking pace that is providing a welcome base of business lasting well into the second quarter of 2020.”

The September NAHR looks at group sales commitments and individual reservations in the 25 major North American markets for hotel stays that are booked by September 1, 2019, for the period of September 2019 – August 2020.

*Committed Occupancy – (Transient rooms reserved + group rooms committed) / capacity.

The second quarter combines historical data (August) and forward-looking data (September – August).
