Splurging on a luxury hotel stay is one thing, ponying up for access to a club lounge is another.
For example, the club lounge at the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans is marketed as "a boutique hotel within a hotel." There is a buffet-style, staffed restaurant that serves full meals, champagne, wine, beer and cocktails all day, private areas for conducting meetings with comfortable seating, complimentary newspapers and a private concierge service.

Nobody is certain about what 2017 holds for hotels, with projections for occupancy and rate ranging anywhere from near-record levels to completely flat. But one common thread throughout 2016 that is projected to continue to give the industry strength in the coming year is the group-booking sector.

NEW YORK CITY — Committed occupancy and average daily rates (ADR) for the first quarter of 2017 are showing major signs of growth in the hotel sector. Group travel is leading the way despite the continuing lag in transient booking pace in the fourth quarter of 2016, according to new data from TravelClick’s November 2016 North American Hospitality Review (NAHR).
