The Amadeus story

Amadeus was founded in 1987 by Air France, Iberia, Lufthansa, and SAS with a bold vision: to create a global distribution system that would revolutionize how travel is booked and managed. What began as a collaboration between airlines has since evolved into one of the world’s largest and most trusted travel technology providers.

Over the years, our journey has been shaped by innovation, diversification, and a deep commitment to transforming the travel experience. Today, Amadeus builds solutions that support every corner of the travel ecosystem - from airlines and airports to railways, hotels, travel agencies, and tour operators.

Amadeus’ expansion into hospitality began in 2013 with the acquisition of Newmarket, followed by TravelClick in 2019. Since then, we’ve continued to grow our portfolio of integrated solutions, helping hospitality providers deliver more connected, personalized, and seamless guest experiences.
